Our client is a global management consulting firm.

Overview:
  • The China Insights Manager is responsible for the information management (IM) and knowledge management (KM) resources. The Insights Manager plays a key role in the overall China Insights team to support strategy consulting work via external resources and internal knowledge contributions.

Responsibilities:

Information management
  • Provide direct research support for China and overseas projects
  • Build, organize, and manage China research resources, which includes data subscriptions,
  • library subscriptions, and vendor management
  • Track industry development and provide summaries for distribution
  • Coordinate and collaborate with global information management team on shared resources
  • Manage and monitor the China library budget and cost allocations

Knowledge management
  • Work with local consultants to capture client development work and make it available for reuse across the firm via LINK, the global knowledge management system
  • Work with and train local case teams, at any time from case start-up to close-down, to help them leverage past experience and capture in LINK valuable IP for future reuse
  • Work with other knowledge managers around the world, to share best practice and be a part of a strong global team

Requirements:
  • Excellent English and Chinese written/verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Preferably, a background in strategy consulting, so that they are familiar with the strategy consulting business, issues consultants face, research methodologies, data availability and the type of content that needs to be generated
  • Enthusiasm and drive to establish positive working environment and reputation of IM and KM within the business - willing to be a catalyst for change
  • Diligence in creating a systematic and logical approach to IM and KM in their area of influence
  • Ability to multi-task incorporating good organisational skills and flexibility, to prioritise work and deliver the maximum business value
  • Ability to build strong networks across the business to develop sponsorship, relationships and
  • support for IM and KM goals at all levels of the business
  • Positive, easy-going, persistent, integrity
  • Willingness to work independently in a fast-paced global environment
  • Willing to work with others in-person, or remotely via the telephone and/or email
  • University degree in library sciences, information systems or business-related discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in library, research, information or knowledge management in a business or financial institution
  • Ability to identify the information needs of the business; familiar with market research
  • methodologies and data sources
  • Strategy or management consulting experience desirable
  • Proactive and willing to share and develop new ideas
  • Commercially aware and good with numbers
  • Desire to learn and keep up with rapid advances in the information business.
